Founded in 2020, The Lonely Barber is a product of a time in history not soon to be forgotten. A deadly and economically crippling virus sweeping the nation forced mass closures of financially ill prepared businesses. Barbers found themselves in an interesting predicament for the first time in what’s been described as a relatively “bombproof” career field. My name is Ryan Rich, a hair stylist native to the Los Angeles area with a lifetime of experience as a creative serving the west side of Los Angeles’s ever changing coastal town of Venice Beach. Iv’e been a founding pillar in several of Los Angeles and Ventura county’s more successful barber shops and been really stoked on the progress and elevation the craft of “barbering” has seen as it broke away from the somewhat stale and straight forward aesthetics of yesteryear. That brings me to today. The concept of a barber shop on wheels is far from original. Hair cuts and the experiences we have getting them must be a lot of things in order for them to stand out in today’s market. The conversation, atmosphere, the cut itself and lets face it… the cool factor all play a massive roll in how we perceive the quality of a barber shop. My friends over at Van Speed Shop in Costa Mesa California worked hand in hand with me to bring to life a design that would not only be fully functional in trade but equally beautiful aesthetically for clients offering an atmosphere that feels right in tow with any other upscale barber shop they have seen before. this time it was truly bomb proof. It could get the job done as well as be flexible in in times when flexibility is rare and things change rapidly. Im proud of the growth and the community we have cultivated as a Venice Beach Barbershop.
